The Sacajawea Heritage Trail runs for 23 miles along both sides of the Columbia River, in Richland, Pasco, and Kennewick, Washington. The Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau publishes a map of the trail. Jeff King recommends the route as a nice ride.

Have ridden this one its entire lenght. Is a great road bike trail extending from Port of Benton north of Richland, all the way to Sacagawea Park on the Snake River. Along the way there are 3 major bridges over the Columbia River to ride, as well as either through Wade Park on the river east side through Pasco, or Columbia Park on the river west side and through Kennewick. This last week, 11/30/07, one of the last under-construction pieces of the trail along the river dike through the Richland Wye was opened up. This bike path system easily rates a 4.5 and is one my favorite local rides. Requires very little mixing with auto traffic.
Come on by and enjoy the biking asphalt.

Late Summer ’08 update. Rode the entire bike trail today on my road bike, covered from Port of Benton north of Richland to Sacagawea Park and back, with a few short side trips in the Port of Pasco to look at 100 year old Pullman rail cars, it made for a 44 mile ride. Made the trip from downtown Richland, Howard Amon Park, south through Columbia Park, crossed over the river at the Cable Bridge, then to Sacagawea Park and back, then up the Pasco side and over the I-182 bridge back into Richland before heading north past my parked truck up to the Port of Benton, the back down through the WSU Tri-Cities campus, Hanford High School campus, and then finally back to Howard Amon. Great ride. With stops took about 5 hours.
