The Heartland Trail is a converted railway that runs 49 miles through a lake-filled area between Park Rapids, Minnesota, and Cass Lake, Minnesota. It connects with (and shares a short section with) the Paul Bunyan Trail. The official state web site (first link above) has a map and other information.
