Schuylkill River Trail

The Schuylkill River Trail is planned to run the entire length of the Schuylkill River, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Pottsville, about 140 miles, with a mix of paved and packed-gravel surfaces. Several sections are now complete, including a 22-mile paved stretch that runs from Philadelphia to Valley Forge (shown here). Check the web site (link above) for up-to-date information.

Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail / American River Parkway

The Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail is part of a park called the American River Parkway. It is a 32-mile trail that runs along the American River from Folsom, California, to Sacramento, California, with lots of parks and recreation sites along the way. Here are some resources:

American River Parkway web site, part of the official Sacramento County Parks web site, which has a trail brochure and a detailed map
City of Folsum web site, which has a bicycling map (if the map link is broken, find the Parks and Recreation department page, and then find the map in the Bike Trails section).
Sacramento Cycle’s Sacramento Area Bicycling Maps page, with links to 6 detailed cycling maps of the Sacramento area, including one of the American River Parkway trail. This map is very similar to the one on the Parkway web site, but may be less current, I’m not sure.

Mohawk-Hudson Bikeway

The Mohawk-Hudson Bikeway runs about 60 miles along the Erie Canal and Mohawk River roughly from Schenectady, New York, to Troy, New York. Here are some web sites about the trail:

Yakima Greenway

The Yakima Greenway is a 10-mile trail along the Yakima River, through a nature preserve that winds around the outskirts of Yakima, Washington.

East Lake Sammamish Trail

The East Lake Sammamish Trail runs 11 miles along the eastern shore of Lake Sammamish, from Redmond, Washington, to Issaquah, Washington. When complete, it should be paved, but it is currently unpaved.

Thanks to Felix Kaskza for sending a GPS trace of this trail, which has greatly improved the map.

Green River Trail

The Green River Trail runs about 12 miles through Tukwila and Kent, Washington. Parts of it have yet to be completed, so in those sections you have to ride on streets.

Interurban Trail (Tukwila-Auburn)

The Interurban Trail runs 14 miles from Tukwila, Washington, to Auburn, Washington. Note: there are other trails in the area that are also called Interurban Trail, unfortunately not connected with this trail.

Tolt Pipeline / Snoqualamie Valley Trail

The Tolt Pipeline Trail runs from Woodinville, Washington, to Duvall, Washington, where it connects (via a short bike lane) to the 29-mile Snoqualamie Valley Trail. The Snoqualamie Valley Trail continues to North Bend, where it connects to the Iron Horse Trail. The Woodinville end of the trail also connects to the Sammamish River Trail.

Note that the Tolt Pipeline Trail is only suitable for a mountain bike, and is quite steep. The Snoqualmie Valley Trail is much flatter and should be suitable for most bicycles. The orange icon on the map is near the start of the Snoqualmie Valley Trail.

Cedar River Trail

The Cedar River Trail runs 16 miles from Renton, Washington, to Maple Valley, Washington, along the Cedar River. About half of the distance is paved.

Boise River Greenbelt

The Boise River Greenbelt is a 9-mile trail along the Boise River in Boise, Idaho, that continues out of town another 7 miles to Discovery/Lucky Peak State Park.
