Sounds good! The Routes plugin (the plugin behind the geographical information on this site, which I developed for WordPress) doesn't currently import KML files, just GPX. But I've discovered http://www.gpsbabel.org (GPS Babel), and it can convert from one format to another, so I should be able to take a KML file, convert to GPX in GPS Babel, and upload to the site.

Jennifer -

Like the site! I have used it to uncover trails and trail data that RTC's TrailLink does not have (traillink.com). I survey for them on a volunteer basis.

If you want data on the John Wayne Trail, etc., you are welcome to my facility waypoints. I usually do my mapping on G. Earth and have lots of kml files you are welcome to use on your site. Also have assoted .gpx files.

The kmls are more inclusive. I develop one for the trail, print out GE maps of same and then go survey it - which may take a few visits, depending on time and weather.

Thanks for the suggestion. According to what I've read, the Powerline Trail is less than 4 miles long and it looks like a mountain bike trail mostly, I think? So it doesn't fit the criteria of this particular site. I'm aiming mostly at trails that can be done on a road bike, and that are longer than 10 miles (although I have made certain exceptions here and there). Thanks...

I just finished this bad boy today and had a very nice ride. The quality of trail is perfect for a hybrid as it has yet to be paved. The gravel is fine and compact most of the trail but does have some places where it is loose and thick. The trail was an old railway and consequently bisects many homes and their lake front property.

57 web pages of photos documenting the ride from around the Warm Springs golf course to Lucky Peak and back are temporariliy here:

http://www.ktomiak.biz/BIZ/Greenbelt_Bike_Ride_East/bike1.html

I just got a GPS logger and will do the entire PAVED Greenbelt plus surface street route once construction is complete. I will not trespass, nor violate Riverside Village's pedestrian only section.

http://stuebysoutdoorjournal.blogspot.com/2009/03/eagle-greenbelt-bypass-for-bikers.html

clearly shows this is not part of the Boise Greenbelt. So does

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CBkQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cityofboise.org%2FDepartments%2FParks%2FPDF%2FReservations%2FGreenbeltReservationMap2008.pdf&ei=P6xdTK-LM4Kclgfkzui1CA&usg=AFQjCNEtM0I3h1fTGVOotGuY4gP31Crwiw&sig2=g22LFYEugszcAfYIC80ECA

What the first link shows is that if you are willing to go on dirt and surface roads you can make your way from an access entrance to the Boise Greenbelt and make your way to Eagle. You could also disobey the Riverside Village (NOT recommended) and peddle thru or CARRY, not push, your bicycle thru the pedestrian only section.

The people who are not following the rules will make it harder to ever get the rules changed. You annoy the residents and ruin it for the rest of us. People have made their own trails in other areas where the trail is not. That does NOT make them part of the trail system. If those dirt roads are NOT part of an official trail system then you are trespassing.

We loved this bike trail. We started at Meeker Station in Puyallup. The views of mount Rainier and carbon river are just gorgeous.

Has anyone explored the trail past South Prairie to Buckley and Carbonado? What does the elevation map look like for both those?

Hi - I crossed the trestle at Beverly twice in 1999 during a walk across the entire country. It is an awesome structure...the wind in the center is pretty strong.
